Average Man: Voting Reform

AverageMan

The 2020 elections aren’t that far off. New York should be a leader in voting accessibility yet it lags behind most states.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Let’s hope the right folks get elected to the state legislature to push reforms through. We need early voting. We need automatic registration (including for persons with convictions). We need early registration (and we need civics to be taught throughout all four years of high school). We need a no-questions-asked vote-by-mail system. We need to once and for all address the issue of making it easier for persons to register as independents, not as Independence Party. The list goes on.

We’re less than 20 months away from the presidential primaries. The state’s session starts in January and ends in June. There’s no reason these reforms can’t be in place at the end of session. NO REASON AT ALL.

Besides silly politics of course.
